Fitness to Practise (Review Stage)

A student's Fitness to Practise may be challenged when their behaviour, health and/or professional conduct gives cause for concern.

What is the Fitness to Practise review process?

If your Fitness to Practise case is found to be proven you may submit a review of this decision, but only under specific grounds:

  • that the decision reached by the Fitness to Practise Panel as to whether the fitness to practise allegation was wholly inconsistent and/or unsupported by evidence
  • that there was a material and/or procedural irregularity by the Fitness to Practise Panel Hearing which has prejudiced the student's case
  • additional evidence has come to light, since the decision of the Fitness to Practise Panel Hearing, which could not have been expected to have been produced at the time of the consideration of the case.

Students may not challenge the professional judgement of the Fitness to Practise Panel.

What should you do if you wish to submit a request for a review?

You should submit, within 10 working days of the written notification of the Fitness to Practise Panel decision, a letter requesting a review of the decision made by the Fitness to Practice Hearing. Alternatively, you may download the following form to complete. Your letter/form should be addressed and sent to the OSCAR and must cite which of the grounds for review is relevant to your case.
