Who we work with

Training and development

Teesside University is working in partnership with Saudi Arabian chemical company SABIC – one of the world’s leading petrochemical manufacturers. Together they have developed a new series of business masterclasses for employees.

The masterclass series is to help grow the capabilities of middle managers. It covers a wide variety of topics from effective communication and mentoring, to motivational team leadership and human resource basics.

SABIC has signed up 30 of its employees from Wilton and its North Tees site onto the University’s masterclass series. It sees the classes as an ideal way to boost the skills of its workforce and further strengthen its ties with Teesside University.

SABIC has a long-term partnership with the University, engaging in a management development programme for first line managers and drop-in sessions covering a range of topics. Both were created by Teesside University specifically for SABIC’s policies and procedures.

Kathryn Harper , SABIC’s learning and development manager

‘‘The beauty of the masterclass series is that individuals can pick and choose which modules suit their needs. The range of personal development we’ll see across all areas will be quite significant. ‘Highly trained and developed managers are key to the success of our business and our ability to achieve our aims. Giving individuals the opportunity to grow and develop means that they see SABIC as a company in which they can build a long and rewarding career.'
