Mentoring and Executive Coaching programme.
Teesside University Business School and Cumbria Constabulary have worked together for four years.
The Business School and Cumbria Constabulary developed and deliver mentoring and executive coaching to a closed cohort of 60 senior police officers – primarily at Sergeant, Inspector or Chief Inspector rank - with identifiable leadership promise and characteristics profiled by Cumbria Constabulary.
The Mentoring and Executive Coaching programme involves the delivery of five one-to-one sessions per participant, with each participant initially completing a personal diagnostic report followed by a series of individual exercises and tools culminating in a set of common and agreed SMART career goals for each participant.
Particularly useful was the setting of tasks around my development, that I wouldn’t otherwise have pushed myself to complete without that accountability. I feel much more confident moving forwards and would highly recommend coaching to anyone looking to progress their career.
I felt like Simon really knew me and how I ‘ticked’ after the first session. He taught me a lot about myself and changed how I perceive myself, or maybe just gave me the confidence to recognise what I already knew and brought it out of me. This has boosted my confidence in the workplace.
Simon was upbeat and amiable. He got me to engage when I was a little sceptical and by the end of the four sessions, I knew what I wanted to do and had a plan in place to help me achieve it. The coaching Simon offers makes you think about what is important to you, where you aim to be and more importantly a plan to help you get there
