What students said about Teesside

The National Scholarship Programme (NSP) is worth £4,000. This scholarship will reduce your fees by £3,000 and give you a £1,000 cash bursary in the first year only. The bursary will be paid in three instalments over the course of your first year.

The scholarships can only be used for courses where the normal fee is at least £7,450.

To get an NSP you need to:

  1. live in a postcode that has very low participation in Higher Education, and
  2. have a family background which is from Socio Economic Classifications 4 - 8, and
  3. not be already receiving a Teesside Extra Scholarship, and
  4. come from a home where the household income is £16,190 or below.

How will we work out who qualifies for an award from the National Scholarship Programme?

We will get information about your postcode and your family’s background from your application. We will know if we have offered you a Teesside Extra Scholarship. We will also get information about your household income from the Student Loans Company and it is in your interests to complete the funding application process as soon as you can so that we can confirm scholarships.

Teesside extra

Teesside Extra scholarships will reduce your tuition fees by £1,500 each year for up to four years.

The scholarships can only be used for courses where the normal fee is at least £7,450.

There are two ways in which you can receive an Extra Scholarship:

  • Potential - you need to show the potential for high academic achievement and have a household income of £42,600 or below per year - or
  • Disability - you need to be in receipt of Disabled Students’ Allowances (DSAs) and have a household income of £42,600 or below per year.

How will we work out who qualifies for a Teesside Extra Scholarship?

We will use the information that we receive from you during the application process to decide if we can offer you a scholarship. This will include information from your application form (including predicted grades) and, if appropriate, interviews or portfolios of work. We will let you know at the time of making you an offer if you will get a scholarship and all offers will be subject to you firmly accepting your offer of a place.

Or to qualify for this scholarship we will need confirmation from you that you are receiving Disabled Students’ Allowances. You can get more information about DSAs from disability services or talk to one of our advisory team on 01642 342277.

In both cases please remember that you also need to come from a household where the income is £42,600 or below. We will get this information from the Student Loans Company and it is in your interests to complete the funding application process as soon as you can so that we can confirm scholarships.

If you do not qualify for a Teesside Extra Scholarship, you might still get an award from the National Scholarship Programme.
