In the last three academic years, we have recruited over 800 students from the Sub-Saharan Africa region, including learners from Ghana. Teesside University is immensely proud to have a strong Ghanaian Alumni community, as well as a number of students currently enrolled on our wide range of courses.

For entry onto a Foundation or Extended programme, applicants require:

For entry onto: Extended Programmes - West African Examination Council (WAEC) or West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) subjects with a minimum of three at C6 and two at B3 (including maths)and IELTS 5.5 minimum in all bands (or equivalent)

For entry onto: International Foundation Year Social Sciences, Health or Law – WAEC or WASSCE pass with a minimum of six at C6 (including maths)

For entry onto an Undergraduate programme, applicants require:

General Certificate of Education at advanced level – standard UK entry requirements

A diploma with a lower credit as minimum



For entry onto Integrated Master of Engineering – MEng (Hons):

A diploma with a higher credit as minimum



Advanced entry to undergraduate


You may be considered for enter Year 2 of a degree programme if you have a Higher National Diploma with a grade-point average of 3.0/5.0


You may be considered for enter Year 3 of a degree programme if you have a Higher National Diploma with a grade-point average of 4.0/5.0


These depend on your subject area and are decided on a case-by-case basis

For entry onto a Postgraduate programme, applicants require:

2.2 at undergraduate degree or 2.5/4 GPA
